The hard limit is 255. In other words, Cisco AP with IOS does not allow more than 255 wireless clients.

As 802.11g is half duplex, all wireless clients same the same media. It is very similar to 10Mbps half duplex. Depends on the applications running on the wirelss clients and the bandwidth requirements for these application, the maximum number of wirelss clients should be much lower than 255. Based on the experience of 10Mbp half-duplex ethernet, 30-60 users are considered as practical limit.
