Enabling Additional Network Ports on a WLC5508 that is an Active Primary/HA pair,

I am working on a project where I have an Active 5508 WLAN Controller configured in Primary/HA Pair.

Currently only 4 of the 8 network ports are enabled. The project will require all 8 ports to become active.

Ports 5 - 8 are currently disabled on both the Primary and the HA Controllers.

When I enable the ports on the Primary will this be a function where the Primary configuration will pass over to the HA device to enable the same ports or do I also need to enable the ports on the HA device as well?

Will the HA Device allow me to make those config commands?

The configuration of the primary appliance will always be "synchronized" to the hot standby unit.

No you don't have to break SSO.

What you need to do, however, is to make sure the switchport configuration is identical to the active ports before connecting the physical link. Make sure the switchport(s) are added to the etherchannel FIRST, disable the physical port and connect the physical links. Once the physical link is/are connected do you enable the physical port. This will ensure the ports don't go to a state of "flapping" which can happen (very rarely). This also ensures that your configuration is/are correct.
