Aironet 1200 Antennae Pattern

I have installed 10 Aironet ap's throughout the bldg. All ap's are mounted from ceiling with antennae pointed down towards floor. I have been asked what the radiation pattern is for the antennae. I'm using 2 dipole antennae that is standard for the aironet 1200. Where can I find some information on the radiation pattern?

The radiation pattern will generally resemble a donut with the antenna being centered in the hole.

Some things can modify that pattern, metal (grounded / ungrounded) in proximity to the antennas, the RF reflectivity of the mounting surface and, further out, objects that will stop, bend, or reflect the RF.

The variability of the environment is why it it so important to do a good site survey.

It's just a characteristic of the antenna type.

You can probably find it in the CWNA (Sybex) or O'Reilly books.

As a general type, you could probably find something by doing a Google on "Dipole Antennas"

The general pattern is similar to magnetic lines of force of a bar magnet.

I'll see what I can dig up and re-post if I can find something specific.
