I have the same problem.

Whenever you can define the channel but only in the root device (command: channel <FREQUENCY>).</FREQUENCY>

In these devices you can't set power higher than 20 mW (EMEA devices) instead of 50 mW (802.11b) or 30 mW (802.11g). Why?

About the performance, I obtain 20 Mbit/s with 1 mW cck and ofdm trasmit power (to preserve receiver) and 2 meters RG58 cable between two devices. With tkip and wpa performance goes down to 8/9 Mbit/s.

Any suggests?

We have two Aironet 1310, connecting two office buildings. Association works fine, they get linked at 54MBit/s. But when we measure throughput, we get results between 8 and max. 15MBit/s.

We can see CRC errors climbing up, but signal strenghts is quite well, distance is about 300 metre and we connect via Yagi antenna (13.5dBi gain) from roof to roof with a free line sight.

We use a 50 feet antenna cable (coming out of a Cisco buliding-to-building kit) with lightning arrestor to connect the bridge with the antenna.

We use actual IOS software and i do not know, what to think about it. For example: It is not possible to define the channel, which we want to use (unknown command in CLI, error message in HTML).

Are there other people with same experience? Are there any hints, how to configure the system not explained in the documentation? Thanks in advance.

By the way: When we enable encryption with WPA, PSK and TKIP, performance goes more worse (about 5MBit/s)...

Have you tried disconnecting the lightning arrestor kit? Try connecting first with basic security and test your throughput as your baseline.

I had to remove the lightning arrestor kit first. We have not yet grounded the darn thing. As per Cisco TAC Australia, the radio module on the 1310 are really finicky. This are new devices so more likely they are ironing out the bugs.

I even found out a bug while troubleshooting this. They are on the case.

If you are seeing less than 54MB that is normal. Try to baseline it with just the regular communication overhead before the authentication and encryption built in.

Thanks for the hint. We have also tried this. Actual situation after following all the hints in configuration documents ist: Throughput without ANY security settings (except MAC filter and no broadcast ssid...) ist about 25MBit/s net. When we enable WEP or WPA with PSK and CKIP (TKIP use is not recommended in release notes), performance goes down to 7-8 MBit/s. As we can see - security is a hard business...
