Will it work... yeah, but how well is the question. You only have 4gb of ram for all these app's including WCS. This is also a Domain Controller? If they want to add WCS to this, have them sign off that you have told them otherwise.... just to cover yourself.

Hi,my customer want to install WCS-base (to manage 2 controller 4402-50 and 50 AP) using a intel server with strong performance (bi-processor 3,6 GHz, 4 GB Ram) but unfortunatly

they want to use the same server for the applications listed below.

I've seen in syst. requirements that a dedicated server is supported (I've suggested a dedicated vmware image....) abd I can chang http-https mgmt port but wich type of problems could I have with this server using all these applications + WCS ?

Maybe Cisco-TAC don't accept tickets for this configuration because is "fully" unsupported ?

The wifi infrastructure will remain the same, no enlargement are planned.

Application List:

•Windows 2003 Std Edition R2 con SP2

•Domain Controller

•Vmware Virtual Center Server 2.0.1 (in future 2.5 Update 1 or update 2)

•VMware Virtual Infrastructure Client 2.0.1 (in future 2.5 Update 1 or Upd 2)

•VMware Converter 3.0.1

•VMware Apache Tomcat Web Services (port 80 e 443) ver 5.5.17

•Power Chute Network shutdown di APC v 2.2.1

•Legato Networker 7.2 (client)

•Java Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6

•MSSQL Express 2005

•Symantec PCAnywhere 10.5

•Winzip 8

•Winscp 3.8.2

•Acrobat Reader 7

•HP mgmt tool ver 7.70

(port 2301 e https 2381) - SSD agent

ok,thank for your help.

I'm going to require additional RAM (+4 GB)

and I will suggest a quad processor instead of a bi-processor. I will also explain to customer that probably this configuration is not supported by cisco, even if it works, and they could not open a ticket/TAC request.

regards, Domenico

Just make sure you get the client to sign off of this. The issues is later, what happens when they upgrade certain app's and or load patches that might affect WCS. If you can't put it on it's own dedicated server, then VM is another good choice.

Just to toss this out there... if the WCS has issues, and you open a TAC case, the first thing they'll suggest is to install it on its own server. It's very unlikely that they'll provide much assistance until you do so.

But, money is money, and servers aren't cheap. Best of luck!
