That original link may cause you a headache as it is for an Aruba AP which is different.

Try this for the method:

https://ripplesinharmony.wordpress.com/2013/01/28/downgrading-a-cisco-lightweight-ap-to-autonomous-mode/

The software from that first link you posted (https://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=286281141&flowid=71622&softwareid=284180979&release=15.3.3-JC1&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest)will work for standalone (Autonomous) mode.

That second link is Lightweight which means controller-based and you don't want that for this scenario.

Cheers,

Thank you Ric for your response.

The file from my download link starts with ap3g2-XXXX and the article you have shared has the file starting <GS id="6bd32269-71b5-46fd-ba89-18cf567b616e" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="35327502-7a93-4a11-b7a2-5fe326c2ff2f" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">as</GS> cXXXX-k9w7-tar.default. So my question is: is the file <GS id="30ee5e64-b322-471a-9377-ea21dda99570" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="a0677fe1-a737-4af8-b39a-652eaa2c2d4e" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">in</GS> the link correct one as <GS id="67911e4d-c43f-4c83-b30b-e7db88f9668f" ginger_software_uiphraseguid="a0677fe1-a737-4af8-b39a-652eaa2c2d4e" class="GINGER_SOFTWARE_mark">i</GS> want the controller mode AP to be turned into standalone mode.

When you get to the step of releasing the mode button on your 1702 you will see it default to an IP (10.0.0.x) and then search for a particular filename which will be something like XXXX-k9w7-tar.default.

You will need to download the file from your link and rename it to match the file name.. which I expect will be something like c1700-k9w7-tar.default. If renaming in windows, make sure you have hidden file extensions showing otherwise the file would actually get renamed c1700-k9w7-tar.default.default.
