By this I mean you purchase the 5508 and then purchase the appropiate size license. You can add to these licenses as needed up to 500 access points.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;As for the current 2100 and 4400 series controller they are HW based, which means you can not upgrade with liceses. If you wanted to go from say 25 access points to 100 you would be requried to purchase a new controller.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I hope this helps ...&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi all,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Just wondering whether the license for the wireless are hardware base of IOS base? For instance, if i buy a controller that can support up to 6 APs, later on can i upgrade the OS of the box to support update to 12 APs or do i absolutement have to buy hardware for up to 12 APs?&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Thanks,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Eddy&lt;/P&gt;</description>
