topic Wireless Network Design in Wireless

I have a customer with a VERY large L shaped house with 3 levels. The customer wants most rooms in the house, along with a pool house and a carriage house, covered by this network. What would be the best way for me to design this network using Aironet 1231 Access points, etc? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time!

Joe D.

Place the APs in areas that will maximize line of sight to other areas of the house. For example, place one in the vertex of the L to provide coverage to both sides. Take guesses on where to place the access points then do a site survey to confirm their locations. Shoot for an SNR of at least 15dB.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind! There are quite a few rooms/walls on each level though, so it may be fairly difficult to get much in the way of line of sight configurations. The house is approximately 12,000 square feet, do you think putting one AP on each side and one in the middle of the 2nd floor (there are 3 total floors) would be sufficient? Thanks again for your help!!

JD

try using the 9 dbi patch antenna; provides great coverage in difficult environments.
