As of the wireshark trace, I see the AP requesting for the image. Mac is also responding to that with a tiny bit of data but not all. I assume the transfer gets cut off for some reason. might the issue reside on my mac?

-maxi

Hi folks,

I am trying to downgrade an 2600 ap using my mac book air 10.10.2 with IP address 10.0.0.2/28 + the built in tftp server. file name is "ap3g2-k9w7-tar.default" with 666 rights. the tftp root folder also got 666 for everyone. when I am trying to let the AP pull up the image it stops saying "Image is not a valid IOS image archive". I've also compared the md5 checksum, witch is correct. In addition I have downgraded the ap from a colleagues windows pc and it ran through as a charm.

Base Ethernet MAC address: xxx
Ethernet speed is 1000 Mb - FULL Duplex
button is pressed, wait for button to be released...
button pressed for 22 seconds
process_config_recovery: set IP address and config to default 10.0.0.1
process_config_recovery: image recovery
image_recovery: Download default IOS tar image tftp://255.255.255.255/ap3g2-k9w7-tar.default

examining image...
DPAA Set for Independent Mode
DPAA_INIT = 0x0

extracting info (287 bytes)
Premature end of tar file
ERROR: Image is not a valid IOS image archive.ap:

Has anybody got the same issue?

Hope I haven't missed something really stupid, but I've spend almost the whole day trying to bring it up autonomous.

Thanks for your help in addition!

Cheers,

Maxi

Must be a type-o, but a "/28"? That's a wrong subnet.

ERROR: Image is not a valid IOS image archive

Check the MD5 hash value and compare the value against the MD5 hash value found in the Cisco website.

Hi Leo,

what do you mean with type-o? /28 is truly wrong but fortunately just on this post here. I've configured a 255.255.255.224 subnet as the AP's IP config per 'set' in ROMMON.

The MD5 is correct. I've double-checked that twice.

%Error opening tftp://255.255.255.255/ap3g2-k9w7-tar.default (permission denied)ap: set
DEFAULT_ROUTER=10.0.0.1
ENABLE_BREAK=yes
IP_ADDR=10.0.0.1
MANUAL_BOOT=no
NETMASK=255.255.255.224
NEW_IMAGE=yes
RELOAD_REASON=58
ROM_PERSISTENT_UTC=1354548142
TERMLINES=0
ap:
IOS Bootloader - Starting system.
flash is writable
FLASH CHIP: Numonyx Mirrorbit (0089)
Xmodem file system is available.
flashfs[0]: 15 files, 3 directories
flashfs[0]: 0 orphaned files, 0 orphaned directories
flashfs[0]: Total bytes: 31997952
flashfs[0]: Bytes used: 6227968
flashfs[0]: Bytes available: 25769984
flashfs[0]: flashfs fsck took 15 seconds.
Reading cookie from SEEPROM
Base Ethernet MAC address: e4:d3:f1:1e:8f:08
Ethernet speed is 1000 Mb - FULL Duplex
button is pressed, wait for button to be released...
button pressed for 22 seconds
process_config_recovery: set IP address and config to default 10.0.0.1
process_config_recovery: image recovery
image_recovery: Download default IOS tar image tftp://255.255.255.255/ap3g2-k9w7-tar.default

examining image...
DPAA Set for Independent Mode
DPAA_INIT = 0x0

extracting info (286 bytes)
Premature end of tar file
ERROR: Image is not a valid IOS image archive.ap:

You sure that there is no hidden added file extension? When I upload/download code from my Mac, I have always done it through Windows running in Parallel. Maybe it's because I tried it before and couldn't get it to work:) Who knows.

-Scott
