802.11n

With a lot of news spreading around about the new 802.11n and MIMO standards..is Cisco going to come up with a new product that supports this standard ?? I know its still not official..but any roadmaps to this standard ??

Yes, and word around town is the 802.11n standard is still 18 to 24 months away.

Yes, we will have products support 802.11n when 802.11n is ratified. Based on e-mails in internal alias, Wi-Fi Alliance strongly discourages vendors from releasing pre-standard products. Thus, we do not have any announcement on 802.11n product.

Will the 1200 be upgradeable to 802.11n by adding a module or a new product will come out ? Just curious!! Also with the number of antennas required for the MIMO standard, am wondering how CF or PCMCIA cards will be designed for 802.11n

There is no possibility of adding a module because mimo standard is at least using 2 radio in one mac.

The new linksys ap and others are not MIMO technology. Atheros AR5xx5 chipset would have 2 radios in one card and 4 antennas. It does smart antenna, transmit and receive diversity.

For CF or PCMCIA card, there would be multiple antennas (small foot print) integrated on the card. Just look at your CellPhone, How many antenna printed on a flex pcb? My GSM has three and both polarization (hor and vert).

Most interesting is using AR5xx5 chipset we can have full duplex (RX TX differrent frequency and radio).
