WLC 4402 - what software version ?

We are using version 4.2.130.0. I can see there are different later versions. F.ex. the 5.1.151.0 ED(What's ED ?)and the 4.2.173.0 MD(What's MD?)

What is the latest stable version ?

You are on the latest stable version. 4.2.130 is a Cisco Gold Code and is what I use in my deployments. The 5.0... stay away, 5.1 and 4.2.173 is just too new. If you want to upgrade then I would upgrade to 4.2.173... But if it ain't broke don't upgrade.

Since I posted that a while back, I would have to edit my post and say the latest 4.2.209.0 and the 7.0.98.0 seem to work the best:)
