topic FlexConnect: User Name:unknown in Wireless

I'm working on a new wlc installation for a customer. I've create a wlan with a customized web-auth. page that uses an external freeradius sms gw. I've setup FlexConnect, so the wlan is locally switched but the WLC is the authenticator.

The problem is that the authenticated usernames (in this case phone numbers) are not being passed back to the controller log which we need for tracking purposes. I would understand this behavior if we were using local auth but we aren't. The WLC logged the user names properly before activating FlexConnect, when using local mode.

Appreciate any suggestions!

FYI

Fore some reason we were using Passthrough and not Authentication on the SSID. After changing to Authentication and opening port 1812 all the way through to the radius server, everything worked. 🙂
