UHF Interference question.

Has anyone ever had any issues with a UHF 2-way radio causing all wireless within a range to drop?

i have a customer that has Kenwood 2-way radios in the warehouse TK-8360HUK & TK-3360, and whenever they key up the basestation to start a call, the pc next to the station requires intervention to get it reconnected to the wireless.

they are using Cisco 5508's with 3502's.

the specifications on the unit say it operates in the 450-520Mhz range.

is this normal?

That is the first I heard about that.... If you can reproduce this every time, then I would have to say something is affecting that PC. Now there wouldn't be any fix, except for trying to have the PC use the 5ghz if this is affecting the 2.4ghz. I would also look at if this affects a wireless laptop next to the base station. If the PC is the only device being affected, maybe its something else. Try to test various scenarios to see if it affects only the PC or all devices. Try different bands if it affects all devices.

HF/UHF/VHF operating in a higher frequency compared to 2.4 Ghz & 5.0 Ghz.

Can you ensure the co-ax cable connecting the base transceiver is properly terminated? It could be leaking.
