There is no reliable way to filter websites by country using any DNS based system. It's just not organized that way

For instance, any website, anywhere in the world can use a .com domain and you wouldn't be able to filter it that way. You could block the TLD domain for countries you want to block to cut down on things, but as I just illustrated that isn't foolproof.

If your router supports it, you could also block the IP address ranges nominally associated with the countries you are concerned about. However that isn't foolproof either, especially as IPv4 address are being sold in the open marketplace as they have "run out".

My child frequents flash-based gaming sites outside the United States like Gabon. How do I restrict my child from accessing sites in this country without individually blocking each domain he attempts to access.

As mattwilson9090 outlined, there is no rule about what domain is registered in what country. You had to check this for every domain with WHOIS. Regardless, you can block country and other TLDs with OpenDNS, e.g. by adding fr, cn, ca, mx, biz, info, etc. to your "always block" list.

This is still a valid question with no answer. I would like to lock down my computer by preventing anyone from opening a site from a country specific web site. As mentioned in the original question, this can be done manually by adding hundreds of URL endings to block. However, this is not practical at all. There should be a once click easy button for blocking all country specific URL's besides the one you live in.
