facebook is not blocked but the css page is not loaded because opendns. Have you aby idea ? thank you

No, it's not OpenDNS, but your settings.

It seems you have blocked domains in your settings needed to load CSS for facebook. Check your stats or the webpage source for related blocked domains:
https://dashboard.opendns.com/stats/all/blockeddomains
Another tool which can help to identify related domains: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/dns_query_sniffer.html

Do not block them any longer, or whitelist them.

How do I use these tools? I am totally new to openDNS and I don't know what I'm doing. I had issues with getting to google and gmail. I poured over the comments and whitelisted as bunch of stuff that was suggested and now that works. However, I can't get to facebook and some of my work related https sights. Can someone please walk me through this? Thank you.

You more than likely set your OpenDNS filtering so high that you are blocking most useful domains on the internet.

Rather than walking you through the entirety of how to use OpenDNS without even know how your network is configured or what you are trying to accomplish please read the getting started information that begins on the OpenDNS homepage. That walks you though the basics of how to create and create your OpenDNS account, and how to configure your network and devices how to work with OpenDNS. When you are doing so please pay close attention to the filtering level you choose and what it's supposed to accomplish, or choose the custom option and block only the specific categories that you want blocked.

Not "how" is the first question, but "why". Why would you think you had to use them? Also, I listed only one tool. You download this program and run it in order to see your DNS traffic in real-time. You also will see what domains are being blocked by your settings, because OpenDNS IP addresses are returned for them.

Why do you do anything then? Doing something without knowing is very dangerous. Better do nothing!

Same as mattwilson9090 I would think you simply block too much. Set your filtering level to "none" or "low", or use "custom" with a few categories, and it will work. Promised!

Thank you. My husband and I set this up and put everything on super high filtering. We have 3 kids and we are trying to figure out filters for them, but not doing a great job. I want more than basic filtering as it does not filter enough, but not so much that we can't get to gmail or some fun social media sites. When I add stuff to the never block domain, it is still blocked. Facebook for example. It tells me that the connection is not private and wont' allow me to connect. I'll start from scratch again.

Yes, as you see, you get what you configure. Promised!

As I said, your best bet is to select "Custom" and then to select only those categories you really want to block.

So ensure that you didn't block categories like Webmail and Social Networking.

Whitelisting (i.e. exempting from a blocked category) can be a major effort, rather for experts, because many domains are being used by such sites to host content, especially with sites like Google and Facebook. You had to find out all participating domains with tools like http://webpagetest.org/ and also to look into https://dashboard.opendns.com/stats/all/blockeddomains to see what related domains are actually being blocked.

It's far better to not block stuff initially to avoid these whitelisting efforts.
