OpenDNS FamilyShield not working

I used ipconfig /flushdns in command prompt on my Windows 7 based laptop. I also cleared my History on Chrome/ IE.

Still the Family shield is not working. It seems I'm missing something (I have a dynamic IP address)?

What message does http://welcome.opendns.com/ show up with?

If it says you're not using OpenDNS, post the output of the following command here:

nslookup -type=txt which.opendns.com. 208.67.220.123

Thanks! I restarted the router too. Now, clicking on link you mentioned, I can see, " Welcome to DNS" message.

I also went back to FamilyShield page and set it up. The InternetBadGuys.com website is getting blocked as a phishing site.

However, the pornography sites are still not getting blocked. Am I missing something?

It seems you used the "normal" OpenDNS resolver addresses, not the FamilyShield ones. These are 208.67.222.123 and 208.67.220.123. Ensure that you configured only these addresses, not any others, and that you filled all DNS entries.

Just to let you know, rotblitz, that when you're on the main page of this site and you click for setup of the Family Shield, the instructions for router and computer setup give the wrong DNS addresses. Your comment here is the first time I've seen any other DNS addresses but the ones given on those pages.

Just to let you know that the wrong IP addresses are still up in your documentation for FamilyShield. This is the first place I've seen these addresses too; I just set up FamilyShield according to the instructions on the main page and porn is not being blocked.

It's not my documentation, but are you sure? Where have you seen wrong resolver addresses?

Here's the related documentation:

I only see the correct resolver addresses ending with 123.

Still not? Then you'll want to start with the instructions of my first message above.

Those instructions are for using our normal resolvers, rather than our FamilyShield resolvers specifically. The documentation I wrote (https://support.opendns.com/entries/46060260) notes this:

"To use FamilyShield, you should set your DNS server entries: 208.67.222.123 and 208.67.220.123. On our website, you'll may notice that OpenDNS' DNS servers are 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220, but these do not apply to FamilyShield customers.

As an example, here are our generalized router configuration settings with the FamilyShield resolvers instead of our normal ones. If you have a specific router type, follow the instructions for that router but substitute 208.67.222.123 and 208.67.220.123 for the DNS server addresses."

So, this is by design, but based on demand, we may make FamilyShield specific instructions for all of our normal setup guides.

I have used those server entries and the porn sites are still able to be accessed. How do I resolve?

Are the domains associated with the sites you are concerned about even categorized as belonging to the porn category?
