I was wondering if that was the case. My concern was that I may have missed something is the initial setup or something on my network was rogue, but it looks like it's working fine, just a large number or requests to those 2 domains. Thanks for your feedback.

Hey everyone!

I recently setup OpenDNS on my TP-Link Archer C7 and after a few days of monitoring I'm seeing something strange, at least to me, in the top domain statistics. A.root-servers.net and www.tp-link.com have over a thousand requests and climbing. Both of them also have the same number of requests. The next ones are just reaching 100. Looking through the forums and other posts I thought it was because my DHCP clients were bypassing my router for DNS so I statically set it to be the router. But I'm still seeing both of those domains as 1 and 2. Has anyone seen something like this before? Or maybe point me in the direction to look?

DNS queries to the root servers indicate that there's a kind of internal recursive DNS service trying to find out what authoritative nameservers are being used to host DNS for specific domains. It could be your router.

The many DNS queries to www.tp-link-com indicate that your router or a router tool on the computer tries to phone home to maybe check for firmware or other updates and such.
