i dont think whats app should be blocked and this is a really big sticking point to me using family shield at home.

WhatsApp is not being blocked by FamilyShield. It could be that your current IP address is registered with another user's dashboard network, so you are using this other user's settings, in addition to FamilyShield.

To prove this, copy & paste the complete plain text output of the following diagnostic commands to here:

nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.
nslookup www.whatsapp.com.
nslookup e1.whatsapp.net.

I am facing a problem where WhatsApp is taking long to connect, and WhatsApp calls are not working. The moment I get out of the OpenDNS network configuration, everything works well. What could be the problem?

What has your question to do with the topic "whatsapp being blocked on openDNS Family shield"? Are you using FamilyShield, or are WhatsApp domains being blocked by OpenDNS for you? If no to both, why do you post in this thread instead of opening your own thread?

I believe the issue with Whatsapp is that it's currently selected in the Category called "Chat" so if some of your filters include that category, it will not work.
