I am trying to access this site while using OpenDNS:

https//intranet.quintiles.com

Even when setting blocking to "None" the site remains inaccessible.

When reverting to non OpenDNS DNS servers, the site is accessible.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I cannot reproduce your problem.

Copy & paste the complete plain text output of the following diagnostic commands here when OpenDNS is being used:

nslookup -type=txt debug.opendns.com.
nslookup intranet.quintiles.com.

I see now. The tool https://cachecheck.opendns.com/ returns SERVFAIL responses for some OpenDNS locations although I have refreshed the cache. Diving deeper, I can see that intranet.quintiles.com is an alias of the real name connect.gss.quintiles.com which has no A or AAAA record associated at their nameservers ns.rackspace.com and ns2.rackspace.com. Also, gss.quintiles.com has additional nameservers of usadc-ngsse11.quintiles.com and ieedc-ngsse11.quintiles.com which do not respond at all.

That said, the problem is with the authoritative DNS configuration of quintiles.com. You have to contact them to get it corrected.

You can help yourself as a temporary workaround while adding this entry to your local hosts file:

65.205.190.227 connect.gss.quintiles.com connect.quintiles.com intranet.quintiles.com

If this entry doesn't work, try the same with 62.17.37.134 and 65.205.190.117.

Thank you for the feedback and clarification - The problem turned out to be with the ISP's DNS servers, with several international sites not being available.

Again thank you for the detailed assistance.
