In the free product, you can't.

I have no idea if for the free product OpenDNS is logging each DNS request with timestamp, or if each request is merely feeding a counter somewhere for things like requests per hour, most requested, etc. That said, this functionality has been requested multiple times in the past for the free product and the answer has always amounted to "that's available in the pay products, but not the free product".

And yes, before you say it, I know you and some others would find it extremely useful. The big question is, how much do you expect them to give away for free? They offer a solid, *basic* security and filtering product free for home users. Beyond that, they do need to earn money so they put the other features in their pay products.

Possible to See Domain NAMEs By Hour?

In OpenDNS I can see the total number of domains requested by date and hour, but they're just numbers. For example: I can see that on May 2 for the hour ended at 3 AM there were 'x' number of domains requested. Is there a way to see the domain names behind these numbers? OpenDNS certainly has this information, because I can easily see a ranking of domain names for any given day.

If OpenDNS can show the number of requests per hour and the name of domains per day, it should be simple for them to show the name of domains per hour. How can I get this information?

Thanks for your reply.

On the contrary, I feel that the free account is an outstanding value as-is. I wouldn't object to paying for additional services. What is the least costly plan that allows me to view the names of domains requested per hour? This will probably be one of the 'business' plans.

If you're referring to Prosumer, which doesn't protect at the network level, I would have to install a client on each device to take advantage of this feature. That's not always possible.

No, I didn't mean Prosumer, but Umbrella Professional. https://www.opendns.com/enterprise-security/threat-enforcement/packages/
You do not have to install anything, nothing at all. Your dashboard will be at https://dashboard2.opendns.com/
This shows real-time DNS traffic, and the reports come with full timestamps, not only by hour. You can start with a free trial.

This service currently starts at $38/user/year for a minimum of 10 users, i.e. $380/year. You may contact OpenDNS Sales to possible negotiate it further down for home use.

You only need to install something on e.g. your Active Directory server or on end user devices if you use Umbrella Platform or Umbrella Insights. These will also give you reports based on user ID and device, and much more. But these are things you didn't ask for above.

According to OpenDNS:

"To help address these challenges, all Umbrella packages provide the OpenDNS Roaming Client to protect Windows or Mac OS X devices outside the network perimeter without sacrificing performance."

This sounds like concerns? Not sure why you posted this as it is consistent to what I said. Installing roaming clients is just an option, not mandatory. OpenDNS Umbrella works within your network regardless of installing and using agents.

Ah, I see now. You're talking about "roaming clients", but I was talking about the agents for Active Directory integration and such. So your concern was unrelated to what I said.
