We weren't informed AD Users cannot be correctly identified when using Terminal servers / Citrix Xenapp before we subscribed. In any case the last user who logs in will be reported in all OpenDNS activities. In our case we were blaming the wrong people for visiting certain sites. Due to this it's also not possible to use OpenDNS as webfiltering tool which is a shame. I don't underdstand why there can't be a SSO process on the blockpage (Blockpage should be able to identify the correct user and forward him to the requested site if allowed in OpenDNS policy but apparently this isn't looked at. Anyway, it's a shame an otherwise great product cannot be used to it's full potential in an enterprise environment.

We users cannot move topics, only staff can. And I know that there are dedicated forum sections for Umbrella, but I don't have access to them as home user. You must be logged in to Umbrella to see these Umbrella forum sections.

Also, best would be to use your dedicated Umbrella support channels or simply raise a ticket with OpenDNS.

We did raise a topic but there is no solution, that is why we would like to inform other users who are thinking about using OpenDNS in their enterprise. As said it is possible but sadly with major implications.

If you want to warn other Umbrella users then you definitely need to post this in the Umbrella forums that are accessible to you after you log in with your Umbrella account. In this group of public forums it will largely go unread and unnoticed because the vast majority of people reading in these forum are OpenDNS Home users.

Of course you can also post in the Idea Bank asking for a change or addition to features. I don't know if the Umbrella forums have an Idea Bank of their own, but if not, if you suggest to the "general" idea bank you should identify that you are talking about Umbrella to minimize confusion about features that most users don't have.

@delo123
"We weren't informed AD Users cannot be correctly identified when using Terminal servers / Citrix Xenapp before we subscribed."

Ok, that and the following said by you, I want to dive deeper with your topic.

LOL. So you thought Citrix Xenapp support for OpenDNS would be included out of the magical box, same as maintenance maybe for your company cars or so??? 😉
No dude, things not explicitly mentioned that they would be supported are most like not supported. OpenDNS only mention Active Directory integration, not anything about non-Microsoft 3rd party applicances. And that is what you get. If you used a pure Microsoft terminal server solution, you wouldn't have this problem. And I do not believe that OpenDNS would support also 3rd party applicances (there are hundreds available!) in a foreseeable future. Or let's say: I wouldn't do it! And just that you are aware, I have been involved in Citrix Xenapp stuff, and this technically works totally different from Microsoft products. So most things made for Microsoft products (like OpenDNS AD integration) will not work with Citrix or will work only with self-made and hand-made engineering tricks only. This is how I got my Citrix problems solved.

So far my two cents and experiences as consumer of many services and products where nothing is included which is not explicitly expressed.

After all, it stays with "there is no solution". Or the solution is to use products supported by Microsoft.

Hi Rot, or Dude or magician or whatever you want to call yourself. Microsoft Terminal Server is a Microsoft product, as the name says "Microsoft" as in Microsoft. So yes, maybe you can cover your cars with stickers that say MICROSOFT so you learn what a Microsoft product is. Anyway thanks for responsing to a MICROSOFT product which is not supported.
