regarding vlans???????

my question is, if we have not added vlan 5 on our switch, but we are excecuting the command "switport mode access vlan 5", wat error will this command give, plz help me its urgent

I assume its a Cisco switch... So it will create  a VLAN itself when u entered the Command switchport access vlan 5

you will get a message like this when you entering a command switch port access vlan <no> in any of the interfaces.

Switch(config-if)#switchport access vlan 3

% Access VLAN does not exist. Creating vlan 3
