Nexus 5000升级

Hi,

链接:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus5600/sw/upgrade/738_N1_1/n5600_upgrade_downgrade_738_n1_1.html#12771

In-Service Software Upgrades(ISSU):In a Nexus series chassis with dual supervisors, you can use the in-service software upgrade (ISSU) feature to upgrade the system software while the system continues to forward traffic. An ISSU uses the existing features of nonstop forwarding (NSF) with stateful switchover (SSO) to perform the software upgrade with no system downtime.

Support for an ISSU on Cisco Nexus 5000 Series switches and Cisco Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders was added with the 4.2(1)N1(1) NX-OS software release.

Disruptive Installation Process:If the conditions required for an ISSU are not met or if you intend to downgrade the software version, the installation process is disruptive. For example, the Cisco Nexus device and any connected FEXs are rebooted, which causes a disruption.

Forcing an Upgrade:You can choose to do a disruptive upgrade if one of the ISSU conditions are not met. One additional reason where you might choose to do a disruptive upgrade is when FEXs are upgraded in a rolling fashion (one FEX at a time), which requires a longer maintenance window. With a disruptive upgrade, all the connected FEXs are upgraded simultaneously, so the maintenance window can be shorter. If you need a shorter maintenance window (with traffic disruption), you can force a disruptive upgrade even if an ISSU can be leveraged. It is important to note the possibility of an outage if you do a disruptive upgrade.

Hi,

Nexus switch upgrades offer two methods:
1. ISSU
2. Forcing an Upgrade
ISSU provides an uninterrupted upgrade process, and Forcing an Upgrade will cause network interruptions.
If the ISSU upgrade process fails, it will become the Disruptive Installation Process destructive state. If you need to use the Disruptive Installation Process to upgrade, you need to refer to the Forcing an Upgrade upgrade method.
Is my understanding correct?

Hi

For FEX configurations, prior to the downgrade, the configuration must be converted (if not already used) to use FEX pre-provisioning configuration.

What does this sentence mean?
