The Cisco APIC Installation and ACI Upgrade and Downgrade Guide recommends using a long-lived version 5.2(x) or 4.2(x). However the APIC-M4 doesn't support either - “The Cisco APIC L4/M4 requires the Cisco APIC software 5.3(1) release or later or the 6.0(2) release or later”.
What should i use - 5.3, 6.0 or 6.1? Will there be another long-lived version?

Hello,
From 5.3/6.x onwards, there will be no more long-lived version as the release lifecycle concept has changed.
Today, the recommended stable versions are 5.3(2c) and 6.0(7e), which are compatible with APIC M4/L4.

Hello @grant.maynard,
APIC-M4 and APIC-L4 hardware is compatible with APIC releases 5.3, 6.0(2) and 6.1(1):
Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller Release Notes, Release 5.3(1) - Cisco
Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller Release Notes, Release 6.0(2) - Cisco
Cisco Application Policy Infrastructure Controller Release Notes, Release 6.1(1) - Cisco
I wrote 6.0(2) and not 6.0(1) because the latter is not mentioned to be compatible with APIC-M4/L4 according to its release notes.

Interestingly to know that 6.0(7e)M still support APIC-M2 which is close to 10 years old, is it due to large customer deployment base?
