ACI - Endpoint communication Same BD between different POD's

Hi,

I have a mulipod network. I have created a BD/EPG with encapsulation 2101. which has endpoints in both POD1 and POD2. I am facing connectivity issue between the endpoints in POD1 and POD2.

Do I need to configure anything specially in multipod network to establish the connectivity between endpoints part of different POD's.

I have read that dynamic tunell would be formed between leaf's part of different POD's.

I hope you have the IPNs configured correctly.
Is this a new multipod setup? Do you see the ARP complete on the hosts when you ping across the pod?

Hi Raju thanks for your reply.
Yes it is a new multipod setup.
Do we really need to have any special configuration on BD/EPG to learn
establish connectivity across POD's.

How many IPNs do you have? can you share the PIM, RP and loopback configuration that you have on all IPNs? If multicast is configured correctly on the IPNs, only then interpod BUM traffic would work correctly.

Hi Raju,
Sorry for the late reply. I was getting the details from customer. We have
4 IPN devices. Below is the multicast configuration.

feature pim
ip pim rp-address 10.5.208.211 group-list 224.0.0.0/4 bidir
ip pim rp-address 10.5.208.211 group-list 239.255.255.240/28 bidir
ip pim ssm range 232.0.0.0/8
ip pim mtu 9000

Once you do that you would see multicast addresses against each BD. Make a note of the multicast address on your BD. Now on your IPN's check o/p of command "show ip mroute". Do you see that multicast address reflected in that table? If not then you might have an issue with the setup on IPN's with ACI.

In short there can be whole lot's of issues that might prevent you from pinging between two segments. Also, can you paste a diagram of your setup might be easy to visualise then..

Hi Saurav,

Thanks for your reply. mroute is getting on IPN. pfb logs and topology.

show ip mroute 225.1.127.240
IP Multicast Routing Table for VRF "default"

(*, 225.1.127.240/32), bidir, uptime: 5w0d, igmp ip pim

Here is the o/p from my IPN:

(*, 239.255.255.240), 4w6d/00:03:07, RP 200.200.200.204, flags: BC
Bidir-Upstream: Loopback5592, RPF nbr 200.200.200.204
Outgoing interface list:

GigabitEthernet0/0/2, Forward/Sparse, 1w6d/00:03:07

Could you please share information of all 4 IPN's. I would like to see o/p of interface configs from where you are picking up RP.

Saurav

Hi Sourav,
I will share the logs.
I would like to highlight one more point. I am seeing same multicast ip for
two BD's.

Did you get to the bottom of this issue?  I'm curious to what resolved the issue.
