ACI L3out using VPC or P2P

Hi,

I have two N7k switches connected to Border leafs using 4*10G links, the connectivity as follows:

1. N7K-1 connected to BL-1 and BL-2

2. N7K-2 connected to Bl-1 and BL-2.

what is the best way to configure l3out between N7K and BL using vPC or P2P?

if vPC, N7K-1 for example will be DR that mean only two links will be used. correct me.

Thanks

Hi Steven,

No, all links will still be used. The DR in OSPF is only responsible for the distribution of LSA messages on the shared segment. Routers will still be able to send data using the best path.

One of the most important things to consider when using a vPC for your L3out is that you will not be able to use that L3out for multicast traffic. If that's not an issue you can safely use the vPC.

Also be aware that you need a recent release of NX-OS on your 7k's to support OSPF using vPC peer links between them.
