APIC inband management only if leaf nodes are INB as well

Hi ACI professionals,

I configured an inband IP address to my APIC.

However, the inband IP is only reachable if the leaf node where the APIC is connected has an inband management IP address as well.

I configured the pervasive gateway IPv4 address to the "inb" bridge domain.

However, the pervasive gateway IPv4 address is only added to a leaf node if the leaf node has an inband management IP as well.

Example: Inband management network 192.168.1.0/25

- APIC inband management IPv4: 192.168.1.1

- Leaf node 101 Inband management IPv4: 192.168.1.101 (not configured)

- Leaf node 102 Inband management IPv4: 192.168.1.102

==> APIC is connected to node 101 and 102

- Bridge domain "inb" IPv4 address: 192.168.1.126 (pervasive gateway IPv4 address)

Leaf 102 has a configured inband management IPv4 address (192.168.1.102)

leaf102# show ip int brief
[... output shortened ...]

IP Interface Status for VRF "mgmt:inb"(7)
Interface Address Interface Status
eth1/44.22 192.168.1.229/30 protocol-up/link-up/admin-up
vlan36 192.168.1.126/25 protocol-up/link-up/admin-up

==> Interface vlan36 is the pervasive gateway IPv4 address

And here's a leaf node, without a configured inband managent IPv4

leaf101# show ip int brief
[... output shortened ...]
IP Interface Status for VRF "mgmt:inb"(7)
Interface Address Interface Status
eth1/44.20 192.168.1.225/30 protocol-up/link-up/admin-up

==> The pervasive gateway IPv4 address is missing. So APIC has no DG

Does this work as expected?
