APIC missing API docs after upgrade to v4.1

Hi,

I have two similar problems on two ACI Fabrics, both are lab kits with a single APIC each.

Problem #1

After upgrading from v4.0(1a) to v4.1(2g) and completely clearing the config (acidiag touch setup, acidiag touch clean, acidiag reboot), all the API docs (at https://<apic_ip>/doc/html/ have gone.  Trying to access the docs gives an error message Not Found (403, 404)

Does anyone know how to get them back?

Problem #2

After completely clearing the config (acidiag touch setup, acidiag touch clean, acidiag reboot), and upgrading from v4.0(1a) to v4.1(2g) all the API docs (at https://<apic_ip>/doc/html/ have lost their illustrations.

if you tail the access logs on the APICs when you try the /doc/html links do you see anything?

tail -f /var/log/dme/log/access.log | grep doc/html

Hi Michael,

Thanks for giving this a shot.

On the APIC giving the (403, 404), I see the following when I tail the log and try to access the docs

apic1# tail -f /var/log/dme/log/access.log | grep doc/html
::ffff:172.16.1.102 - - [02/Aug/2019:15:52:25 +1000] "GET /doc/html/ HTTP/1.1" 404 262 "https://apic1.fab2.hl.dns/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/75.0.3770.142 Safari/537.36"

On the other APIC, the one that gives me text but no pictures, I see the following when I open the docs

apic1# tail -f /var/log/dme/log/access.log | grep doc/html
::ffff:172.16.1.102 - - [02/Aug/2019:16:01:04 +1000] "GET /doc/html/ HTTP/1.1" 200 709 "https://apic1.fab1.hl.dns/" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/75.0.3770.142 Safari/537.36"

Then in this case I clicked on aaa:ADomainRef - just like in the picture in my question to get:

::ffff:172.16.1.102 - - [02/Aug/2019:16:01:17 +1000] "GET /doc/html/MO-aaaADomainRef.html HTTP/1.1" 200 5540 "https://apic1.fab1.hl.dns/doc/html/LeftSummary.html" "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/75.0.3770.142 Safari/537.36"

Curiously, when I right click on the image icon and copy the link, it gives me:

http://ifc-eng.insieme.local/uml/index.php?data=rZPPTsMwDMbveQqLXjaxVoIjmqZ164SQ2IQqXsCk3ohIkyoNYhWMZydpun9l3OglsfPZ38%2BWOq0tGvteSlYhf8MNwdXj4n6xyq5gPM6J28kEoqz94JNxiXUNc624IUtLXZBMXfoasCiFiiujKxaDKCspuLAhjkChe9zEhrDQSjYh%2FQ26IhPuO4YvtTXILQSHtAtbhxk4i93eu733CJJk0i%2B5A9oGCjAk0QqtWE%2Fiq%2BbglI6PiqNscK4bOdEQEsi79zbb0Zzl3MJgkI%2B04a%2BiGIJbnN%2BMH%2FCmO29%2FT4qISZrpEoXKaQ1RQ1Lqj3bIC8qM1kIJ7%2BgUkecO%2BG69ycpFvupcNv6K454JO%2Bl3MHaoqJS27TiuaamT9BCzmLZ2qTbFrAlPi3343FTE4lKrJy0zX2doTYYUp2QWzP6mPBn7QHkJ8uGU8h%2B9jn3ZlFTh%2F4Ef

I don't know if this helps you figure out a next step.  I have considered booting off the apic image iso if I can find the instructions on how to install from scratch - but my (poor) memory tells me that that really screws around with certificates ans seial numbers, so am reluctant to do that.

Is this the admin user or some type of TACACS ? I see the 403/404 return code. Is the fabric fully fit? Do you see any core files generated?

Hi Michael,

Thanks again for taking a look. I had thought there might be a simple solution or way to reinstate the missing files from the ISO image. But is seems not. To answer your last set of questions:

This is the local admin user the ONLY user on a system directly after a complete erase and restart.

I see the 403/404 return code. Is the fabric fully fit?

Yes. The summary page clearly states "Fully Fit" on both Fabrics

Do you see any core files generated?

No core files at all generated

So I guess I am no closer.

Chris,

Interesting. I am assuming you already tried clearing your cache, trying other browsers? I would open a TAC case and we can take a look.
