Nexus 9396

I am attempting to convert a Nexus 9396 from ACI to standalone mode. i've followed the some online documentation. The image is in the bootfash:

n9000-dk9.6.1.2.I3.4b.bin. I configure the switch to boot the image. and I get the following error. Is there a step I am missing?

Filesystem type is ext2fs, partition type 0x83
No autoboot or failed autoboot. falling to loader

Pasa,

Pasa,

What does the switch prompt state at this point, assuiming you have console access to the switch?

Did you follow these steps when attempting to convert?

1)      Copy standalone image to bootflash:

2)      Reload the box

3)      Keep pressing Ctrl+C when box is coming up to stop at loader prompt

4)      Cmdline recoverymode=1

5)      Boot <standalone image>

6)      It will stop at kickstart

7)      Perform ‘init system’

8)      Perform ‘write erase boot’

9)      Reload the box

10)   It will stop at the loader & load the standalone image, it will take through initial setup diagloue/poap as needed

lets change it from here:

lets change it from here:

* use "admin" and no password to login into switch (assumption is switch is in discovery mode).  If not is discovery, login with "admin" and admin password.

* verify n9000-dk9.6.1.2.I3.4b.bin is in bootflash in ACI mode

* CLI commands

clear-bootvars.sh
setup-bootvars.sh n9000-dk9.6.1.2.I3.4b.bin

* Verify bootvars have changed

cat /mnt/cfg/0/boot/grub/menu.lst.local
cat /mnt/cfg/1/boot/grub/menu.lst.local

* type "vsh".  Then "reload".  "y" to reload

ok, switch is rebooting.

ok, switch is rebooting.

Now I have a second 9k where I did the system_init and blew out the ACI image. I cannot copy the image back into the my usb. The is no copy from the loader prompt. there has to be a way to copy an image into the bootflash. Do you know the command?

And, the original switch booted into loader> again.

Can you elaborate on the fix,

Can you elaborate on the fix, I have a 9372PX-E with similar symptoms. Switch rebooted to loader> prompt for unknown reason. Rebooting switch results in error error no bootflash. Trying to load an nxos image from USB results in error Boot disk not found. If I load an ACI image from USB it goes through a bunch of Erasing 128 Kibyte @... then I'm at the bash-4.2# prompt and eventually it reboots because it's "Dazed and confused". I don't know what to do next. How can I format bootflash from the bash prompt?
