I'm in the midst of upgrading my lab APICs from 1.0(1n) to 1.0(2j).  When checking the status at the CLI i see the following output:

Node-Id Role Current-Firmware Target-Firmware Upgrade-Status Progress-Percent(if inprogress)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 controller apic-1.0(1n) apic-1.0(2j) incompatible 0
2 controller apic-1.0(1n) apic-1.0(2j) incompatible 0
3 controller apic-1.0(1n) apic-1.0(2j) incompatible 0
101 leaf n9000-11.0(2j) n9000-11.0(2j) completeok 100
102 leaf n9000-11.0(2j) n9000-11.0(2j) completeok 100
201 spine n9000-11.0(2j) n9000-11.0(2j) completeok 100
202 spine n9000-11.0(2j) n9000-11.0(2j) completeok 100

I see the same results in Admin > Firmware > Controller Firmware > Faults tab:

CIMC version on each APIC is 2.0(13i) and the switches/spines have been upgraded to 11.0(2j), as recommended by the 1.0(2j) release notes.

Thanks all in advance for taking the time to look this over with me.

Hello

Your CIMC version is far to new for code version, APIC 1.0(2j).

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/aci/apic/sw/recommended-release/b_Minimum_and_Recommended_Cisco_ACI_Releases.html

Please downgrade the CIMC using HUU and attempt the upgrade again.

Regards,

I was afraid of that.  I'll downgrade the CIMC and try the APICs again.  I'll post results when done.

That was it.  Downgraded CIMCs and now the APICs are upgrading.  On a side note, the scheduler seemed "stuck" in that it wouldn't restart the upgrade process via the GUI.  I had to start it at the bash prompt, "firmware upgrade controllers <filename>"
