Hello all,

I am just checking if anyone out there is facing false alarm issues with ANM 5.2.1. Basically ANM is sending device down (ACE-30 module) messages occasionally, but in real the device has never went down.

I haven't found any bug related to this issue. Please share your experiences with ANM 5.2.1 ?

Akhtar,

Several issues can be at play here.  Device status is checked by the ANM via snmp polling, logging into the ace and running certain commands either via ssh or xml-agent tcp port.

In the past what could cause this type of issue is network connectivity between the anm and the ace on snmp,ssh,xml-agent ports is broken.

Also if the anm fails to login into the ace, the device will be reported as down,  I would check this expecially if the ace is configured to authenticate via an ACS server running releases older than 5.x.

If all fails, I would open a tac case on this and provide a lifeline from the anm, we should be able to dertermine a reason for this failure in the logs.

Thanks

having the same issue on one of the ACE 30 modules in a chassis

Is there anyone out there running 5.2.2 facing the same issue ?

Akhtar

Yes, me. On 5.2.2 and just a couple of hours ago, the passive sent this:

Device State and Resource Monitoring Alarm of severity info has occurred.

ANM Server Host Name               :

ANM Server IP Address                :

Device ID                                             : sw000:1

Component Name                          : sw000:1

Severity                                               : info

Time                                                      : 21-Feb-2013 05:40:39 CET

Alarm Name                                       : Device State and Resource Monitoring

Alarm Value                                       : Down

Threshold Assert Value : Down

Threshold Group Name                : TEST

Alarm State                                        : Active

Details                                  : sw000:1's Device State and Resource Monitoring reached the Down state defined in threshold group 'TEST'

I upgraded from 5.2.1 to 5.2.2 around 10 days ago, but got the False alert today. It seems the problem is not fixed in 5.2.2.

How are you taking this up further ?

Regards,

Akhtar

Well if I hadn't that many Cases (reported and unreported) with Cisco Products I would open another Case. But I just don' thave the time.

Still trying to fix snmp health probes in ANM.

Maybe later if it gets more annoying.

Had this issue in 5.1 but has since stopped in 5.2. No reason for it.
