We have 2 Cisco ACE modules in a redundant configuration. Each module is in its own 6500 chassis. For the redundant configuration we have an FT VLAN which is a private /24 network.
Each ACE Module has its own IP-Adress to communicate within the FT VLAN.
What we see now is that the communication in the FT VLAN is between theese two configured ip addresses. So far so good. But in the layer 2 header we see that the destination mac address always is ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff which is the broadcast address.
Is this a bug in the ACE module?
How can we configure the ACE module to use the peers mac address on the FT VLAN instead of the broadcast address?
Thanks for any info
Patrik

This is the desired behavior.
Like this we do not need to learn the remote peer mac address.
This is easier to just send a broadcast.
There is no way to change this behavior.
