Has anyone ever had to create errors on any cisco equipment? My end goal is to verify that our system is handling the error reporting from cisco correctly. I have used a network emulator (Packet storm Hurricane 2) to insert errors such as bit errors, dropped packets, and randomizing check sums. I can see some of the errors going by using wireshark to monitor the packets as they run through a packet expert, but I am not getting any type of errors reporting on the ports when I use the command "show interface fa0/4".
Does anyone know of another method that has created errors purposely that will report them to the switch under the show interface ?
