Enterprise License Expiration

Possibly a DFQ... But do Enterprise Licenses have an expiration date tied to them?  How do I view the expiration date? Can I report on that from within WAASCM?

Thanks!

Rob

Hi Robert,

No, WAAS licenses do not have any expiration dates. Though, the support expires at the end of the contract date.

Regards.

Thanks for the quick reply....

Interesting... The fact of the matter is that I had a device (OE-512) that raised an Alarm in WAAS CM for CIFS AO being down and I could not re-start it.  I noticed that the License for Enterprise resmbled:

--------------------------------------------------------------------

License Name      Status       Activation Date  Activated by

_____________    ______      _____________  ___________

Transport             not active

Enterprise            Expired       12/28/2009        Admin

Video                  not active

I cleared the Enterprise License, then added it back, and rebooted the WAAS (465 Days up-time).  CIFS started right up!

All alarms cleared and it is fine since then.

Makes me wonder happened?  Can you shed any light?

Rob

Hi Robert,

If you were using evaluation license at any time, it will expire but once you enable it with license add Enterprise CLI command, it remains there permanently. Do you know if you were using trial license by any chance. that is the only reason why it will show you expired.

Regards.

Hi Bhavin,

In fact I do know that we were NOT using an Eval license on that device.  My concern is that since I have a significant number of these devices in my care (100+), that I may be seeing an impending avalanche of issues.  My "propeller-head" side wants to know why this could happen, and my Customer-Centric side wants to know how to be prepared!

I appreciate any help!

Thanks,

Hi Rob,

This is the first time I have seen this kind of issue happenign with WAAS in my 3+ years of workign with WAAS. Yes, couple of times when people removed licensign manually, we did notice that but that was for license missing not for license expired. But otherwise, if has been working fine.

Can you send syslog.txt and cli_error.log file from WAE to me? OR You may want to open a TAC case and upload sysreport to analyze it in more details.

Regards.
