Nexus 9504 connected to a Catalyst 6509 VSS

Hello Guys -

My current environment in the DC consists of a 6509 pair running VSS (Core) that connects a Nexus 5k (end of row), 2k (top of rack).

We are looking to stand a up a new row and instead of standing up another Nexus 5k/2k deployment, I was wondering if it was possible to deploy at 9504 (end of row) and Nexus 93180YC-FX (top of rack) that connects back to the 6509.  I would like to keep routing happening at the 6509 for now.

Thanks

It really depends.  If you are planning on using the 9504 and 93180 in NX-OS mode, this would be possible, although it seems kind of overkill to replace a 5k with an 9504.

ACI requires a leaf and spine architecture with all 93180 (leaf) connecting to all 9504 (spine) so this feels like it wouldn't work, so if you were planning on changing to ACI in the future, it might not work out for you.
