WAVE 294 - CM AND/OR Application Accelerator?

Hi,

I just read the Deploying Cisco Wide Area Application Services and I'm wondering if it's still a choice to use a WAVE 294 as a Central Manager OR a Application Accellerator? I don't wont to buy two machines in my HQ just for speeding up the connection to my branch.

The book handles 4.1 and I just looked at the Release Notes till today, but nothing mentioned about CM.

Hi Michael,

CM and Accelerators still have to be separate "machines".

But they can be virtual.

btw: WAAS 4.1 will not run on WAVE-294 !

So suggest that you take a look at newer versions (6.2.x).

I know it can be run virtual, but then I have to buy a 100 Node license which is not required by onboard WAVE-294?

Hi Michael,

Well, you have to buy something anyway :

Ether you buy a WAVE-294, which included the Enterprise license, which will allow you to run CM on that device (capable of managing up to 250 WAAS only nodes).

or you buy the 100 Node license and download the software for free.

Thanks! I bought two WAVE-294 for testing and a 880 WAAS Express licesense. Now I'll setup a PoC here with CM running on one of them.

Sadly I cannot test WAVE to WAVE because I need one as CM.
