fax with SPA122 and Samsung SCX-3405F

Good Morning,

my new SPA122 V02  works fine with telefone on the line IO.

However, I was not able to connect the Samsung printer SCX-3405F so,

that the FAX works. The printer shows up with the ringing signal, but receiving

and sending is not working properly, e.g. sending is done but nothing

is received at the other site and vice versa.

There are so many options in the configuration setup of line 2  .. and I cannot

find out which is the right one.

However I've updated the FW to 1.4.1-002 already

What can I do ?

With thanks in advance & best regards, Uli

Hi Uli,

u-law or a-law depends on your country.

If I rememebr correctly u=USA and Western countries. A = Asian Countries.

I would disable echo cancellation.

As for T.38, I would not use it with this particular box. It consists in decoding the FAX tones and sending the actual data which is more effective for IP transmission but require a lot of CPU from the BOX and these Small Business units shold be spared.

Leave the pass-thouhg-method the way it is and configure the setting on your SIP registrar for only G711 traffic.

Hi,

have you tried by using G711 as a fax pass through codec?

Francesco

Hello Francesco,

thank you very much for your fast reply !

There is G711u  default setting and otherwise G711a ... what is the right one ?

For the pass-thrugh-method there is the choice betrween :  None, NSE, ReInvite ... default is NSE

How should I configure the echo cancelling features ?

Furthermore there is T38  enabled .... is this correct or not ?

There are even more options resp. switches , hence a lot of permutations....  ;-)

How to proceed ?

Have a nice day, Uli

Thanks a lot, Francesco,

.

the T.38 protocol had to be switshed off   - it was default on.   And the German Telecom

ist not supporting it at all.

The Codec had to be changed from default G711u  (USA, Japan)

to G711a (Europe).
.

Now, FAX works fine !!!
.
cheers, Uli

Just for completeness ...

If I rememebr correctly u=USA and Western countries. A = Asian Countries.

G711a is "default" codec for most of countries, moreover, it's default codec used for international calls.

G711u is used in just few countries, namely US and Japan.
