Good morning everyone!

Level 1

My name is Igor and I write from Italy.

I am a father who is trying to retrain in the world of work and after various research to define the fields in which to concentrate my efforts and my few resources, I have chosen to focus on the study of the subjects needed to obtain the Cisco CCNA certification. The goal is to obtain certified professionalism that allows me to work remotely, as well as in a single location. I am writing to you for advice and guidance: I have noticed that there are many possibilities in terms of training.

Considering that I work full time to support my family and given my possibilities, I had to look for study paths that did not require me to dedicate all day to this activity and that were free. I found an online course on the 'Alison' platform titled: Diploma in Interconnection of Cisco Network Devices Part 1 (ICND1) v3 CCNA. it was recorded in the early 2000s, but for me who know nothing it seemed like a good starting point.

It's giving me a lot of interesting concepts and information and I'm really enjoying the world of networking. The only limitation of the course, in addition to age, is that it often skips steps taking them for granted and therefore I am often forced to look for external support on the web, through other courses and other sites.

There is a very large book published in Italian to prepare for the exam and sold in bookstores, but I think it is a difficult object to approach independently without anyone to explain anything to you.

Other free materials that I found very useful are the Cisco PDF guides available on the web that cover the different topics. Moving alone is not easy, but for now I have managed to create simple networks on Cisco Packet Tracer, understanding how to give the necessary commands to routers and switches so that they can work, how to create ACLs, enable or disable ports, application of username and password for accessing network devices and various other basic commands. I studied the basics of TCP/IP protocols, how data packets are formed, how IPv4 addresses work, subnet masks, wildcards, and more.

Apologizing for the long presentation, I ask you if you can show me a free online study path that can prepare me to take the Cisco CCNA exam successfully.

I wish you all the best!

Thank you.
