4510r upgraded backplane

Is there a way to tell other than visually that the backplane has been upgraded to fix the design flaw it has when a card takes a power hit and burns out.  I am assuming that these metal rings were put on the new chassis to handle this issue.  Notice how the top slot in this first pic old backplane.jpgnew backplane.jpghas a burn spot on it.

Sounds like an RMA to me.
Put a line card in the first slot. If it doesn't power up on the first slot but powers up in other slots, the the chassis will need to be RMA-ed.

This is a chassis issue. We have a building full of the old backplanes. The new backplanes would be preferred.

Where is the identifier for the backplane? And yes I removed the serial numbers.

Re: 4510r upgraded backplane

That is not it. I believe it is something to do with the Letter Revisions. The 1.0 is just a general for the 4510r+e device. Both one of the older chassis and newer have it.
