Need to correct the workaround: using an injector does not fix the bug

Thanks

The switch shows the link as up, but no CDP information.

According to the Bug ID, it states that the link is up but CDP is blank.  Is this what you're seeing?

Personally, I've seen this several times and in both cases it's not due to a bug but caused by faulty cabling.  I also do not believe this "bug" was properly diagnosed/troubleshooting (by TAC).

I will need to know the following:

1.  If "sh cdp neighbor" is a blank, what does "sh power inline" say on the same port, "Ieee"?

2.  If #1 is a yes, then please post the complete output to the command "sh interface <PORT> contr".

Hello Leo,

Yes cdp information is blank and mac address of the AP is not learned by the switch's port. It affects 2800 model only, no matter the switch's brand nor the cabling used.

Pffft.  Give me a pair of sharp scissors and I can replicate this 10 times out of 10.  I suspect this "bug" was incorrectly diagnosed.
I have seen this behaviour several times affecting phones, different models of APs.  And, no, it wasn't a bug.

What do you suggest? Already swapped cabling on our side...

Thanks

What is the exact model of the switch?

Most of them are HP 3600-48-PoE+ and we've some Cisco C3560CG.

Thanks

Put some of the APs having this behaviour into the 3560CG and run a TDR test.
1. Command: test cable tdr interface <BLAH>;
2. Wait for approximately 5 seconds for the process to run;
3. Command: show cable tdr interface <BLAH>; and
4. Post the complete output to #3.

Here is the output, not sure if it will be of any help...

Interface Speed Local pair Pair length Remote pair Pair status
--------- ----- ---------- ------------------ ----------- --------------------
Gi0/4      1000M Pair A N/A N/A Not Completed
                          Pair B N/A N/A Not Completed
                          Pair C N/A N/A Not Completed
                          Pair D N/A N/A Not Completed

The output is "Not Completed". Try #3 several times.

Bonne journée.

Richard.

Hey, Leo,

I don't know if you know it, but this incident concerns 150 AP on 20 sites connected to 5 different switch models, Cisco, HP, H3C and 3com.

there's little chance that all the cables will break down at the same time. ;-)

Have a nice day.

Richard

DId it 10 times, and the output result is still the same. The port is flapping continously.

Correction: The port is flapping when I issue the test command.

The port goes down/up when the "test" command is invoked.  This is natural.  The "show cable tdr interface <PORT>" should not.  Depends on the hardware, but on a 6500/4500 chassis, the result takes about 61 seconds.
