Lets get the conversation started with Kanyatta...
“Limitless"
In high school, I was interested in occupational therapy and planned to major in it. I took the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) aptitude test with a friend who wanted to join the army. The military recruiter told me my scores were excellent, and I could do anything I wanted to, except be an engineer. This piqued my curiosity; I changed my major and graduated with a degree in software engineering technology and haven't looked back.
Stay curious and don't limit yourself. I realized my work isn't defined by a title, so I seek opportunities where my transferable skills can shine. I focus on my strengths and collaborate with others who have different skills and perspectives. Embrace diverse thoughts and know you don't have to be an expert at everything.
Change can be challenging, especially when updating technology or processes. At a previous employer, we trained our development team to implement new systems. Upskilling current employees benefits the company by retaining loyal staff and reducing the costs of training new hires.
Educate women and young girls early about opportunities in technology. Encourage them to pursue their goals and take risks. If offered a challenging learning opportunity, lean in and give it a try.
Believe in yourself......... “We all have vast potential inside of us, untapped levels of strength, intelligence, and focus, and the key to activating these superpowers is unlimiting yourself.” - Jim Kwik

Thank you for sharing @Brooke Hammer. Kanyatta's insights are very inspiring!
Kanyatta, being a high-level executive in a fast-paced industry like ICT is certainly demanding. It often comes with significant pressure to deliver results, which can impact life outside the office. What strategies do you use to maintain a healthy work-life balance, and what advice would you give to others facing similar challenges?
Thanks, Kelly

Thank you so much for sharing your insights Kanyatta. These are excellent points and key actions that are oftentimes taken for granted. Embracing imperfections, especially, resonates with me. I’ll be sure to check out Tiffany Dufu’s book. Thanks for the recommendation.

@Vivien Chia Great question! I stay motivated by aligning with my C.I.O principles: Connecting to the business purpose, Investing in people, and Optimizing for agility to deliver results. My next goal is to continue living these principles in a C-Suite or SVP role.
