Smaller Form Device Recommendations?

Good Morning all!

I have a second ISP circuit added to my network for redundancy. I have built and designed a topology that uses an FHRP to cut over in the event our primary router fails. I have a connection from Starlink coming into the building. I want to know if anybody has any recommendations for a smaller form (8-14 port) switch/router that can perform layer 3 routing and HSRP/VRRP. It will only house 2-3 connections maximum, so I don't want to use a full 48 port 9300L, it just seems like a waste of capability. I would love to be able to use a Cisco Catalyst Micro (that size would be awesome) but I know its limited to layer 2. I was also looking at Cisco 1200/1300s.

Is there any devices you would recommend for this use case?

Thanks!

-Ray

hi @Ray Stumpf you can try below options..

1. firewall - you can try Meraki MX series firewalls to do routing + firewalling features with FHRP support for 2 devices.

2. cisco routers - cisco 1000 series ISR routers can do the same but not dep firewalling features supported if you need.

but for both options check the required throughput as you using starlink which may have higher bandwidth. 9300L is a switch which is small to medium deployments which have FHRP features too. if you planning to use same device for users and routing, you can go for 9300L type of switch too. but in that case, you need to configure required SVIs and routing to work with ISP routers which is not normal use case as switches are not using for WAN level connectivity in general scenarios.

There will be a firewall implemented in this build as well. We wouldn't need this device to support firewall capabilities as well. It seems that the Cisco 1000 ISR router would probably be our best bet in this senario.

I appreciate the response and your time. Thank you!
