Purple Screen in VMWare UCSC-C22-M3S

SSEEKATZ

Level 1

I wanted to see if anyone can provide any feedback on the analysis of the error observed.

Yesterday, I found one of our customer Cisco Servers servers crashed in a Purple Screen, and I wanted to know if the error was indicative of anything someone knows.

See attached, Thank you. Purple1 - Copy.jpg

Greetings.

You might want to move your post over to https://community.cisco.com/t5/unified-computing-system/bd-p/6011-discussions-ucs

As for that specific PSOD, we do see some some of those when there are hardware issues going on, although it is not always a hardware problem.

You would normally want to look in the SEL log on the server around the same time as the PSOD to see if there are DIMM errors, Processor errors, etc.

Would also make sure the C-states are disabled for processors.

If you happen to still be under contract support, open a TAC case (think the last date of hardware support is July 31, 2020)

Additionally, try the diag utility, and see if it ID's any hardware issues: https://software.cisco.com/download/home/284444317/type/286123307/release/5.0(3b)?i=!pp
