Hey guys,

So I have started learning Cisco SD Access and had  abit of confusion that where does the Control plane resides in this solution, traditionally routers/switches have the control and data plane while in SD Access switches have data plane only while the Control plane resides in DNAC right?

YES SD-Access uses LISP as control plan, and VXLAN as Dataplane.

There is good documet better explained here with diagram to easy understand :

Thanks Balaji,

The document is really good, going through right now, but I would like to know that where this LISP map server resides, is it built in DNAC or on a seperate physical device.

DNAC is just Orchestration tool, even you lost DNAC from network, that will not effect your network.

Depends on design you looking to deploy, There are components in the SD-Access design, Control Plane Node - which can take care of this.

Once you go to bottom of reading the pages or video, you will have all answered (i know we are exited when we see the new technology)

I went through the document and read about CSR 100v is used for LISP features. Thanks for the document.

Out of curiosity what are the tasks that can be performed on DNAC, because ISE is there for the policies then what specifically can be achieved on DNAC.

part of SD-Access (what device can be control plane node - support device models can be find in that document)
