DNAC Assurance HA

Hi All,

I understand that a DNAC 3-node cluster only supports HA for automation services and not for assurance services.

Reading the DNAC high availability design guides, I believe that the assurance services run on the seed node. If the seed node fails, all services are redistributed to the 2 remaining nodes in the cluster except the assurance services. Is that correct? Is it possible to manually spin up the assurance services on one of the 2 remaining healthy nodes or do you have to restore the seed node to restore assurance services?

See the 1.3.3 HA Guide. If/when the node is removed following the procedure from the HA guide one of the two remaining nodes should pick it up.

If a seed node fails, you must remove it so that you can replace it with a working node. Removing the seed node takes about 30 minutes.

This section applies only if the failure is due to a hardware failure.

Note

When you remove a seed node, its existing Assurance data is lost, but the remaining nodes begin collecting new Assurance data.
