Hi!

Is there any way to change the name of a network device in the DNAC inventory using gui or Api?

DNAC gets this info from the device config, so (for routers/switches) you can modify with a template containing "hostname $hostname", then resync the device in inventory to see the new name.

OK.

So for Access-points i have to create a template for the EWLC then to change the names i assume?

I expect the logic to be the same for AP's, but instead of resyncing the AP (which I think is greyed out), you'll want to try resyncing the wlc.  Let us know if that works.

hi, what about the Device Name and Domain Name?

some Switches have no "ip domain-name" which results in a DNAC Device Name like "[SWITCH_NAME]" and some like "[SWITCH_NAME].[DONAIN_NAME]"

I would do a Template "Change_Naming" and resync this but will DNAC push this change to the ISE Network Device Name to?

!

hostname $hostname

!

ip domain-name $domain

!
