When using discovery in DNAC you have options for Discovery Type which include CDP, IP Address, LLDP. While setting up a new discovery you also need to enter SNMP credentials, CLI credentials, and select the protocol you wish to use to access the device. This link should assist with clarifying concerns: https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en_us/training-events/product-training/dnac-13/DNAC13_AddingDevicesByUsingDiscovery.pdf

Hi @Magnus43

DNAC will discover the Access point through the wireless controller so should be you add the WLC to fabric site include  SNMP, CLI credentials, and also streaming telemetry on WLC after this you will find all the AP's joined WLC through CAPWAP.

Steps to add CLI and SNMP credentials

Steps to enable streaming telemetry on the WL

Login to WLC---> management ---> cloud services --->network assurance --->enable services --->save config

Cisco DNA will learn about the APs from the WLC.  So discovery of the WLC is the important factor.
