What is difference between modem and csu/dsu?

Hi everyone there is some confusion on the net about the difference between modem and csu / dsu. One thing is for sure they both perform the same function ie convert a used signal into local broadcasts for a long distance signal. And even on the internet I don't find a precise answer because according to some there is no difference according to others the csu / dsu is used for private lines by converting the signal into digital according to coding schemes; the modem instead modulates the signal.

I hope for an answer thank you all

Hi

CSU/DSU is used to convert digital signals from a router to a network circuit such as a T1.

Modem is used to convert digital signals over a regular POTS line.

Regards.
