install debian linux or any other on ir829/IoX? and get rid of yocto?

I want to install other OS on ioX , rather than supplied yocto linux. Is that possible?  I could not find any doc on it, even though the IoX docs make a general statement that the hypervisor arch can host any OS.

Hi Prateek,

It is not possible to install other Linux for IOx.

However, Cisco provides the SDK to create the specific Yocto Linux for IOx.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve

Where is the "SDK to create the specific Yocto Linux for IOx" please?

Many thanks

Nathan

SDK will be available on CCO soon. Please stay tuned. Thanks.

Hi

Many partners who might seek to deploy their applications on the IR platforms will have their own builds of Yocto or other versions of Linux. These builds may well have certain properties, such as security hardening, specific versions of dependencies, user accounts, authentication mechanisms and so on. It is very likely that a given application from a partner will have been tested and certified as a whole with a specific Linux build.

All of which may mean that the partner cannot deploy their application in another version of Linux without, at least, considerable work to recreate the build and configuration to match their existing Linux. In some cases, where the end user customer has certified a given Linux and application build and configuration, it might be infeasible to change Linux versions simply because of the additional time and effort required for testing and certification.

So, being able to deploy, at least, one's own version of Yocto, if not other versions of Linux, will likely be very important to potential partners.

Regards

Nathan
