IR1101: Remote update of hosted application

Hi everyone!

In an installation containing dozens of IR1101 spread over an extensive geographic area, what is the best option for remote update of the hosted application?

IR1101 Software Configuration Guide mentions that application can be deployed using the app-hosting CLIs, or using the Local Manager and Fog Director. Are these the same options for remote update on an installation spread over an extensive geographic area?

Also, is it necessary to update the entire container (packaged as TAR file)?

Thanks in advance,
Andre Chrcanovic

Hello Andre --

The recommended way to manage a highly distributed set of gateways falls under the use case called 'Remote and Mobile Assets' and have a specific management application called Cisco Kinetic Gateway Management Module (GMM). It is a Cloud-based counfiguration and deloyment platform for IoT gateways (IR1101 and IR8x9).

Here is the RaMA Cisco Validated Design (sort of a referecence architecture):

And Cisco GMM:

Your sales team can definitely get you a demo.

best,

Emmanuel
